Alot of these products are from a company called Auralex simply cause they provided a decent primer for sound isolation, and subsequently specified their own materials. Im sure there are alternatives if we want them.

do we know how much dB insulation we need?
ReplyDeleteI asked Dennis this yesterday to see if they have an idea and am waiting for a response. Otherwise, as far as I understand, amped music is around 150db and whisper / quiet talking is around 30db, so we'd need to cancel out 120db.
ReplyDeleteThere is talk now about weighing the cost benefits of finding a different space with less noise constraints, perhaps allowing something like 60-80db (about regular piano playing).
One of their composers is concerned about recording live at 5am if needed, so we'll need to accomodate that where ever we end up.
Oh and as an aside, Dennis and co seem very happy to continue working with us past this phase. I just need to figure out how I can get a contract or something signed. Or at least a big cash advance. Unmarked 100s.
ReplyDeletethat is awesome! So family has a client, family has a client!
ReplyDeletejust like jack's italian landlord asked for the rent: 20$ bills, envelope in the freezer.
